About the TS Bookshop

The TS Bookshop started its life as the Reading Room for the Theosophical Society in Melbourne in the early 1900s. Established in 1975 at its present location at 126 Russell Street, the TS Bookshop has continued to serve the aims of the Theosophical Society, in encouraging the study of comparative religion, philosophy and science. We are proudly associated with the Melbourne Theosophical Society, which runs lectures, workshops and group activities, and has a remarkably well-stocked lending library, the John A. Farquharson Library, which members of the public may join.

The Bookshop has responded to the rapid growth of spiritual awareness in modern society and now specializes not only in esoteric subjects and the sacred scriptures of all of the world’s Great Religious Traditions, but also in a broader range of subjects, including an extensive selection of alternative health titles, psychology, divination, and many more – click on list of subjects for a full list of subjects stocked.

The TS Bookshop currently has approximately 25,000 titles in stock, and a further 75,000 on our database. We are able to search supplier’s databases around the world, and provide an exemplary special order service. This includes ordering books from locations such as Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal and India, as well as the more common United Kingdom and United States of America.

We provide a prompt and reliable mail order service all over Australia and the world, which can be accessed by telephone or email. There are no facilities to order via the Internet. Our experienced and helpful staff will attend to your order, and books in stock are generally dispatched the same day as ordered.

One of the unique features of the TS Bookshop is our large range of second-hand and sale priced books, which is constantly growing and changing. As these are not recorded on a database, a personal visit is highly recommended.

As well as our vast range of books, the TS Bookshop stocks all the things you need for your spiritual journey: incense, candles, crystals, jewellery, Aura-Soma products, music and spoken word CDs, instructional and inspirational DVDs, Hindu and Buddhist statues, singing bowls, tarot cards, inspirational card decks, posters and greeting cards.

As it’s often hard to make up your mind when purchasing gifts for others, we sell Gift Vouchers, which can also be purchased over the phone.

We also have a Layby service (only available for purchasers instore).
